| District Team Members 2001-2 Attached is an updated listing of all our Union 2 District Team Members for the 2001-2002 scouting year. Please feel free to contact these members regarding any questions you may have. We are all here to assist each other, to make Girl Scouting an event in our girls lives that they never forget! And one we never forget as well! |
| Meeting Rules These meeting rules will be listed in each and every monthly issue of "Scouting Headlines". If we all strive to follow these simple rules, we can all benefit and grow in our scouting experiences. 1. Meetings start on time. 2. Hand out an agenda/minutes/notes. 3. One person has the floor/speaks at a time. 4. Raise hand for floor recognition for comments or questions. 5. BE POSITIVE! 6. Leave gossip at the door! |

| November District Event Kate's Skating Rink will be the site of the districts all night skating party. Event is scheduled for November 9, 2001, 11 PM to 8 am. The $10 fee (girls, leaders and volunteers) includes the following: skate rental (in line skates, $3 additional), snacks, patch and breakfast. All moneys are to be turned into Gloria H. no later than October 8th. So, get your girls together and plan on an all night skating frenzy! Please be sure to have appropriate supervision for the number of girls attending in your troop. |
| Survivor at the Scout Back This is the name up our up coming camporee at Cane Creek Park, this October 26-28, 2001. Open to all troops! Get your girls together, make some SWAPs and have a memorable weekend camping! |
| November District Meeting The November District Leader meeting will meet on the second Monday at the United Methodist Church, only this time in the Teen Room, adjacent to our regular meeting site. |
| Blood Drive The United Methodist Church, who has been so kind to lend us their facilities for our District Leader meetings is asking for our assistance. November 12, 2001 (the 2nd Monday), the church will be sponsoring a blood drive from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM. They are looking for volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact Maxine W. at the church office. |
| Outstanding Troops Every month the district would like to recognize an "Outstanding Troop for the Month". Troops are nominated and voted in by their age level tribe members There will a traveling trophy awarded to the outstanding troop each month (the winning troop will hold possession of the trophy till the following month), as well as being mentioned in the district newsletter, and a certificate. We want the girls to know that they are being acknowledged for their contributions, and share it with our district, and council. |
| Monroe Christmas Parade This year we would like to hold a contest. Each troop who is interested in participating in the Monroe Christmas parade can submit a float idea. This can include sketches, a list of ideas, etc. The only required premise is that the floats must contain a Christmas theme. Get your girls together see what you can come up with. Your submissions must be in by the this evenings district meeting and winners will be announced at the October district meeting. Two troops will be chosen. GOOD LUCK! |
| Training made Easy Training made easy for you! Home study videos are available for Daisy and Brownie age level training. Orientation can now be completed online at www.hngirlscouts.org |
| Pre-Register Please remember to pre-register for training's at council at least one week in advance. If you register on line, may be a good idea to call council and verify dates and times of training. There have been a few errors on training schedules, so avoid the unnecessary trip to Charlotte, and confirm. |

| School Night Recruitment School night recruitment results, are as follows: Benton Heights: Daisy: 3/1 troop formed, Brownie: 10/2 troops formed, 4 placed in existing troop, Junior: 11/1 placed in existing troop. Union Elementary: Brownie: 1 placed in existing troop, Junior: 3 placed in existing troop. Prospect: Brownie: 9 placed in existing troop, Junior: 5, all need placement. Unionville: Brownie: 19, 2 troops formed, Junior: 13, need placement. Marshville: Brownie: 10/8 placed in existing troop, Junior: 6 placed in existing troop, Cadette: 1 placed in existing troop. New Salem: Brownie: 10 placed in existing troop, Junior: 4 placed in existing troop. |

| FYI Correction Latin American Festival, page 45. Please change event date from October 17, 2001 to October 7,2001. Fees: $5 per adult and children over 12 years of age. Children under 12, are free. |
| Service Project Opportunity September 15, 2001 10 am to noon, the American Heart Association Annual Walk, held at UNCC. Contact Joy or Lari at 704-374-0632 if your troop is interested in volunteering. |

| Challenge Courses The Challenge Courses (FYI, page 7) need facilitators. If any leaders are wishing to be a trained facilitator, please register for upcoming training's. If you have been trained as a facilitator for Low Ropes or High Ropes, you must attend the updated training. |
| Gateway Technology Promote this Gateway Technology Workshop with your girls (FYI, page 61). Girls will receive hands on training and will work on requirements for try-its, badges, and Interest projects. |
